Some answers would be nice
The closure-threatened Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is a vital lifeline service.
I worked in welfare and debt services for many years and, as a member of the public, I would like to put some perspective on the‘tender exercise’and ask some questions.
CAB received funding of £238k for the last few years, with an additional payment of £26k to maintain the advice helpline services (happy for anyone to correct me if I am wrong). This was a total funding amount of circa £264k per annum.
CAB may have known for some time that the tender exercise was pending but would not have known about the financial restrictions – standard practice in commercial tender exercises.
I would love to know how the council arrived at the £242,000 contract figure, as I imagine CAB provides them with regular financial reports on the costs of running the service?
