This summer has more than lit up the stage

- Let’s have a birthday party to remember

It just keeps getting better for festival- goers as one of the biggest music events in the country gets set to return to Glasgow.

Glasgow Summer Sessions is back to blast the eardrums of mad musiclovers in Bellahouston Park – and the two-week countdown is officially on.

The festival, which attracts droves of Buddies each year, is celebrating its sixth birthday this year in style with a three-day musical extravaganza.

It’s a massive year for the festival – with indie legends Kings of Leon and Catfish and the Bottlemen headlining on Wednesday, August 22 and Saturday, August 25, respectively.

But it’s rap legend Kendrick Lamar who is sure to steal the show when he storms the stage to close the festival on the final night.

Few artists have seemed as unshakeable as Kendrick Lamar has in recent years, going from strength to strength as he continuously pushes boundaries of rap music in his totally unique way.

Since his 2012 breakthrough ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’, Kendrick Lamar has since released another two chart-topping albums and curated the critically acclaimed soundtrack for one of the biggest films of the year, Black Panther.

Five years on from when he first performed in Scotland, the rap icon will come back to Glasgow joined by N.E.R.D. and Bugzy Malone.

Fans shouldn’t miss the chance to catch the Pulitzer Prize winning artist on his glorious return to Glasgow.

Running on August 22, 25 and 29, the three day event follows in the footsteps of a fantastic summer of music in Scotland - and it’s not over yet.
