Craig: We can put last season’s misery behind us

GB star says that new coach Russell has made a difference

Clan man Craig Peacock believes the excitement is already building in the locker room as the club looks to lay its demons to rest.

The Great Britain international is keen to put the disappointment of missing out on last season’s playoffs behind him as the season draws ever closer.

And with a host of new additions to the side and a new head coach Pete Russell on the side of the ice, Peacock reckons everything is looking up.

He said: “I think it is a very exciting team. Everybody knows last season was disappointing for us and we didn’t have the best of years.

“That is no secret but I think with the way that everything has gone this summer has been great.

“Bringing in Pete as head coach and the whole re brand of the club has made it an exciting time.

“I really like the team that he has put together and I think we have a bit of everything. We have got a lot of skill in there and a lot of toughness too which I know the Clan fans will enjoy. We will be a really tough team to play against.”

It has been a summer of change off of the ice as well with Clan dropping the Braehead name in favour of Glasgow – a move which Peacock supports.

However, he says regardless of the club’s name, it is key for the players to get off to a good start.

He added: “I know the club has been known as Braehead for a long time and some people won’t like change but it gives the side a bit more recognition nationwide.

“But we need to start well and talking to some of the returning players everyone seems excited.

“We have a good group of guys and Pete has done a lot of research to ensure that we have a good locker room.

“We want a good start, it brings an excitement about what we can achieve over the weeks that follow.”
