Burgh will be on guard

-

Johnstone Burgh boss Jamie McKim insists his side will be taking nothing for granted as they head to lowly Newmains this afternoon.

Their hosts recorded their first win in 16 months last weekend as they triumphed 5-2 away at Forth Wanderers.

And McKim believes Newmains will be hoping to make it a double success when they welcome his Burgh side to town.

However, the Burgh boss has been buoyed by his own side’s success following their 4-0 humbling of topflight Renfrew in midweek.

But he has urged his men not to get carried away as he called on them to focus on their “bread and butter”.

McKim told Express Sport : “Newmains have had a lot of investment over the summer and I don’t think they are necessarily the side that have historically struggled to compete.

“They will be hoping to build upon their result from last weekend and it will be up to my boys to head into the game completely focused.

“We will have to do it without Lee Salisbury, which is a blow, while our goalkeeper Cammy Sinclair is still injured.

“But we should have Sam Esplin back after missing the game with Renfrew and he has been key for us so far this season.

“As much as the result against Renfrew was impressive, the boys have to remember that the league is where our main ambitions lie.

“That is our bread and butter and I expect them to produce the same kind of performance that they did the other night.”
