Granny is leading by example

-

A Paisley gran is upcycling to help Buddies turn trash into treasure.

Angela Poultney opened social enterprise Up- Hub Workshop and Gallery in the town’s Well Street and hopes to promote creativity and help the environment.

She hopes to take old, unwanted items of furniture by giving them a fresh look and selling them on.

Former TA soldier Angela said: “I want to take items of furniture and upcycle them, especially of they are going to be thrown out.

“We will be running workshops in the space which I hope to have up and running in the next few weeks, where people can learn how to transform bits of furniture too.

“We will exhibit other items from local people at the shop as well.

“It’s all about helping the environment, but also creating a community space and a hub for upcycling.”

The gran-of-five came back to Paisley from England to look after her ill father after bringing up her children.

She added: “When my dad moved into a care home I had more time on my hands and wanted to do something locally.

“I didn’t get the funding that I’d hoped for but I’m moving ahead anyway and I will make it all work somehow.

“We have already had some great help from across the town and I think people will be really interested in what we aredoing.

“We are on the look out for items as well, so if you want to drop bits off that would be brilliant.”
