It’s time for us all to get creative
A new agency called Creative Renfrewshire is launching later this week to support creativity across the area.
An event called GetTogether #01 will take place at Paisley’s Bungalow in Shuttle Street on Thursday from 6.30pm to 10pm.
The aim of this is to let members of the public get involved through talks, music and meeting the Creative Renfrewshire board.
Co- chair Billy Kinnear said: said: “Creativity has always been important in Renfrewshire.
“We are a community built around textiles, manufacturing and entrepreneurship.
“Over the last few years, we have seen a new level of excitement as our culture has taken the centre stage in Paisley.
“A new charity has been launched to build on the excitement and keep the conversation going – Creative Renfrewshire.
“As a charity, we are aiming to support artists, nurture talent and create new opportunities in every town across Renfrewshire.
“We will celebrate our history, establish showcases for local artists and work with creatives to make a real community from Lochwinnoch to Erskine.
“We are asking for artists, musicians, designers, performers and creative organisations to tell us what’s missing from their town.”
Artists promoted through the creativerenfrewshire.com website include Paisley’s Caroline Gormley, returning illustrator Jac Rundell and teen singer Lisa Kowalski.
Caroline and partner Alexander Guy are opening a new art studio in Paisley next month.
The creative space at 69 High Street will offer one- to- one tuition, art classes and painting courses when it opens its doors on September 1. The event is free, but tickets are limited. Book your ticket online at https:// www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/gettogether-01tickets-48907070364
