- Kenneth Speirs

People are being urged to get in tune and help the saints go marching in at a gospel choir.

Renfrewshire Community Gospel Choir is looking for new members who will enjoy singing classics such as O, Happy Day and Swing Low, Sweet Chariot and many others.

The choir is run by well-known music teacher Diane Mitchell, and she is keen to get as many people as possible on board the gospel train.

She said: “This started about three years ago as part of my music school, and it’s been such a success that the group is now a choir in itself.

“We have about 20 to 30 members and are definitely looking for more.

“We perform a mixture of upbeat gospel songs.”

And the good news is new members will not be put under the spotlight.

Diane added: “People should come along whether they think they can sing or not. “There are no auditions. “People can just sit and join in if they want.

“It’s all about having fun and enjoying yourself.

“You will feel uplifted and we always have a laugh.”

In the past, the choir has performed at Paisley 2021 bid events, Wallneuk North Church and Paisley Town Hall.
