Swimming pool is ready to re-open after makeover
A community swimming pool is set to re-open after a £2.5m upgrade.
People will be able to use the new facilities at Barrhead Foundry, including a new health suite and changing rooms, when the pool welcomes people in again on Monday morning.
Bosses at East Renfrewshire Council say the upgrade gives customers a vastly- improved facility, with modernised equipment to ensure even better water quality.
Natural, energy- efficient lighting and new tiling has been installed to boost the swimming experience.
The new changing village provides a more spacious layout, with new cubicles, lockers and showers.
The health suite, which includes a new sauna cabin and steam room, has also been refurbished with a new shower cubicle and changing area.
Gym customers will have upgraded and reconfigured changing are a s, which incorporate new showers and lockers.
Council L eader Tony Buchanan said: “This significant investment by the council has improved and modernised the swimming pool and changing areas at the Foundry and I’m sure will be welcomed by our residents.
“The new changing village is more family friendly, with more cubicles, and provides modern shower facilities which were required.
“This was a major project and it’s fantastic to see it completed on schedule, with residents from Barrhead and beyond now able to benefit from these improved facilities.” Splash about
Anthony McReavy, chief executive of East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, which operates the facility on behalf of the council, said he was delighted with the improvements.
He said: “I’d like to thank our customers for their patience during these work. They will all notice a big difference in the quality of the pool, health suite and changing areas.”
