St Mirren Netball ladies are brimming with excitement ahead of the big tip-off.
There is now only a week left until the Buddies return to the court following a summer of hard graft and preparation for the new season.
There has been no rest for the wicked, with training continuing throughout the summer.
Pre- season preparations started in July with coach Fiona Moore-McGrath putting the girls through their paces to get them in the best possible shape.
In what is set to an exciting year, the club’s first team will be playing in the First Division of the Glasgow Netball League as they strive to mount a promotion push for a spot in the National Premier League next season.
The club’s second team will remain in the Third Division and are feeling confident after last season’s development that they will be fighting for top spot in their division too.
But for the first time the club will also be entering a third side into the league.
Due to an increase in membership numbers t over the past year, the club has taken the decision to enter another side into the set-up.
A club spokeswoman said: “Due to increased numbers of members to the club over the past year we are happy to announce that we will be entering a third team into the league. With so much talent the club can’t wait to see what this new team will achieve.”
The hard work has also continued off of the court as well – with a big boost to the club’s coffers.
A season-long fundraiser has helped the ladies purchase new training kit for all the teams and recreational kit.
The spokeswoman added: “The committee selected a few designs for the new dresses keeping within the traditional St Mirren colours and the club voted – and there was an obvious winner.
“Our teams can’t wait to return to the court and put all their hard work into action.
The club can’t wait to see each team improve and develop but most importantly they want to have fun.”
