Competition is hotting up despite rain

Paisley Velo splits into two groups

- Craig Ritchie

Paisley Velo’s cyclists were back out on the bikes for the next round of their Series B Time Trial Championship.

After rain played havoc with the club’s weekend runs leaving the cyclists very wet, the Velo’s riders returned to the Georgetown Road course.

With daylight fading there are not many events left and the group now have a split, with two groups having formed to keep things competitive.

The action continues to come thick and fast – and Colin Sales continues his good form as he led the pack for the second week running.

He was followed over the line by guest rider Joe Bryceland, while Simon Arnold, Andy McLeod and another guest in Kieran Cunningham were also in action.

This week’s results: 00:17:33 Colin Sales, 00:19:06 Joe Bryceland (G), 00: 19: 36 Simon Arnold, 00: 20: 42 Andy McLeod, 00: 22: 12 Kieran Cunningham (G).

The split in the group has now been confirmed, with the new groups based on riders’ best times, excluding guests, over the entirety of the Series.

Group 1: 00: 16: 15 David McCormack, 00:17:31 Colin Sales, 00:17:58 Andy Taylor.

Group 2: 00:18:59 Simon Arnold, 00: 19: 14 Sandy Ross, 00: 19: 54 Derek Mcburnie, 00:20:19 Dugald McCallum, 00:20:42 Andy McLeod.

Group 1 is made up of riders consistently riding sub 18 minutes with the rest of the field making up Group 2.

By the looks of things there will be a good battle between Arnold and Ross for the Group 2 crown.

Riders will now take on hill repeats of the Auchenlodment Road climb, south of Johnstone, as part of their hill training for the upcoming Hill Climb Championship.
