Diane will be in tune with pupils
Rotary boss will help them serve community
Pupils at Paisley Grammar School are set to follow in the footsteps of rotarians by serving their community.
The pupils, who are in third to sixth year, are setting up an Interact Club, which is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Paisley that aims to get school pupils involved in local and international projects.
This will see them mirroring what Paisley Rotary itself does, and they will be guided by it as they set up their new club.
Diane Mitchell, of the Rotary Club of Paisley, said everyone at the organisation was looking forward to working with the young people.
She added: “Like the club itself they will be doing community and international projects.
“They will organise projects to supplement the Rotary club’s aims and objectives.”
The projects that the Paisley Grammar School Interact Club will get involved in have not yet been worked out, but Mrs Mitchell, who is well known in Paisley as the owner of the Diane Mitchell Music School, says she expects the pupils to benefit hugely from involvement with Rotary.
“They will get involved in leadership,” she said.
“They will organise the club themselves and it will be good experience for them.”
The Rotary Club of Paisley is an organisation of business people who aims to help the community and those abroad by fundraising and setting up their own projects.
One of the biggest projects it has been involved in recent years is in fundraising to help eradicate polio throughout the world.
This is work that had been carried out in partnership with Rotary International.
The Rotary Club of Paisley meets every Wednesday at 12.45am for lunch at 1pm.
The meetings are at the David Lloyd Club, Arkleston Road, Renfrew.
Paisley Grammar School’s Interact Club will be launched next Thursday.
They will organise the club themselves and it will be good experience for them
