What a week of wonderful music

-

Although Paisley Music Week had to go ahead without a sponsor last week there were still loads of bands to go and see.

Most of the action was to be had at The Old Swan which, coincidentally, had its annual T in the Swan Day, with more than 12 acts playing both inside and outside.

After two call-offs, The Proposal and Cherry Red ’53 stepped in at the very last moment and they went down a storm.

Everyone on the bill kept the momentum going all day and had everyone up singing and dancing.

Music fans also filled up The Cave, The Anchor, The Tea Gardens and The Bungalow.

The event needs a sponsor for next year and the organisers are on the lookout for someone to step in.

Who doesn’t like a whole load of George Michael tunes from Faith to Careless Whisper and many more?

He was one of the country’s greatest entertainers and an iconic legend, forming the group Wham before becoming a solo artist whose fame spread all over the world.

Tonight, The Bungalow welcomes a man who will bring the story of the late star to life.

Brendan J Carr is one of the UK’s premier George Michael tribute artistes.

He regularly performs around the UK and Europe with his solo tribute show and is also touring the UK in one of the leading roles in the cast of The George Michael Story stage show.

Wowing audiences with his stunning voice, his energetic show features all the classic hits.

It is a must-see for any George Michael and Wham fan.

The show starts at 8pm and tickets are £10 at the door.

Get ready Paisley because Greenock is about to invade us.

It’s a friendly invasion, however, in the form of two of the hottest bands from the Clyde coast town in the shape of The Lucy Baines Band and The Medicine Priests.

The Medicine Priests are a fourpiece pop rock indie band who were formed in early 2016.

Throughout the past year they have created a large fan base with their catchy melodies and singalong choruses.

Their debut EP, called Cure For Anxiety, was released last October and has received airplay on Sunny Govan Community Radio and featured on Jim Gellatley’s weekly playlist on Amazing Radio.

They made their TV debut this year in March on STV Live@Five and in April they headlined Hempstock Festival in Glasgow Green.

The Lucy Baines Band are making a great name for themselves on the band circuit and it is good to see them playing here in Paisley.

Tickets are £6 at the door and things kick off at 8pm.

Meanwhile, The Anchor has The Cassettes in on Sunday, from 4pm, and The Tea Gardens welcomes back FreeSpeech, who are hot property at the moment, at 6pm, also on Sunday.

The Four in a Row at The Cave this week starts off with Lift Shaft Incident tonight at 9pm, then tomorrow, in the early slot at 6pm, it is the turn of Midnight Moses, followed by The Black Triangles at 9pm.

On Sunday, at 6pm, the man with the amazing voice, Crawford Carlyle, will perform.

The Old Swan tonight has Rise in from 8pm, while in the Shoppers’ Slot tomorrow, Earl Blue and the Sessions will be playing from 4pm.

On Monday Casual Swans are laying at 3pm and on Wednesday Graeme Kerr is on from 6pm.

Open Mic Nights next week are: Tonight, with Stevie Johnstone at Hamishes Hoose, from 8pm; Sunday, at The Bungalow, with Cat Caldwell from 8pm; Monday, at The Abbey Bar, hosted by Dunky Hunter, at 8pm; Andy Lindsey is at The Anchor on Tuesday, from 8pm and Wednesday sees Johnny Barr hosting at Burger and Keg, from 8pm.
