FLAT FIRE MURDER BID

COPS LAUNCH PROBE AFTER 5AM BLAZE

Murder bid detectives are investigat­ing a deliberate flat fire in the early hours of of yesterday yesterday morning.

A firebug torched the front door of the top floor property, in Morar Drive, Linwood, at around 5am as the occupants slept inside.

One victim was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by paramedics.

Cops were last night investigat­ing the wilful fireraisin­g, which is being

treated as attempted murder.

Yesterday, the shaken woman who was targeted told the Paisley Daily Express the yob responsibl­e for setting the fire had also scrawled abuse over the door with paint. She asked not to be identified. Police revealed that they are keen to speak to a woman spotted near the property at the time of the fire who was wearing a pink tracksuit top and pink tracksuit bottoms.

She is thought to be aged in her 30s or 40s.

DC Karen Smith from Paisley CID is leading the investigat­ion.

She said: “The incident happened at around 5am on Sunday morning.

“There was a wilful fire raising at a dwelling house. No-one was injured.

“We are looking for a female who was wearing a pink tracksuit.

“We are treating this incident as attempted murder and are keen to speak to anyone who may be able to help with our enquiries.”

A spokeswoma­n for Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed they had attended the incident.

She said: “We received a call at 5.06am on Sunday.

“Crews from Johnstone and Paisley attended the scene.”
