McKim: Squad has good balance

- Junior football

Johnstone Burgh boss Jamie McKim has heralded the arrival of two new signings as he spruces up his squad following a solid start to the season.

Ross Gemmell has signed up following a successful trial with the club, during that time he turned out a number of impressive substitute appearances for the Keanie Park side.

Meanwhile, Chris Agnew has made the switch from Maryhill Juniors and has already made an impact having played a starring role in the weekend’s victory at home to Muirkirk.

And boss McKim insists he is delighted with his two new faces.

He said: “Ross is a solid, young player with great technical quality and his background shows the standard he is capable of reaching at Johnstone Burgh.

“We tried to bring Chris in towards the end of last season, having watched him in a number of games, and Saturday showed the reason why he was coveted by us.

“He brings great experience and a terrific engine on the right hand side and he will bring match- winning qualities to the team.

“We are very happy with the balance in the squad now and it’s just a case of letting the team gel and continue to build on this positive start to the season.”

Elsewhere, Arthurlie have confirmed that defensive midfielder, Craig Forbes has left the club by mutual consent.

A club spokesman added: “The club wishes to thank Craig for his time at Dunterlie and we wish him all the best going forward.”
