YOUTHS PLUNGE FROM WINDOW

-

A teenage boy was last night fighting for his life after plunging from a first- floor window during a major disturbance at supported living flats in Paisley.

The 16-year-old has been placed in an induced coma after falling 20ft from the Kibble- run block in the

town’s Love Street in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A second lad, aged 17, suffered serious lacerations to his hands after dropping from the same window.

Detectives have now launched a probe into the horror incident, which happened at 1.40am.

The area was sealed off to members of the public as police forensics’ officers examined blood covered debris – including a TV and bed frame – left strewn in the rear garden of the facility.

It’s believed a serious disturbance kicked off in the flat before the teens jumped from the window and cops found the flat had been completely trashed when they arrived on the scene.

The pair barricaded themselves in a room and began hurling items down to the street below before plummeting to the ground.

It’s understood the 16- year- old boy underwent surgery at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital yesterday and remains in a critical condition after being placed in an induced coma.

The 17- year- old lad was treated for injuries to his hand at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and is also expected to be operated on.

Yesterday, a passerby told us of the mayhem in the street.

He said: “You can see from the street that two windows have been completely smashed in.

“There is a telly lying in the front garden area. It looks like there has been a right rammy.

“There are also clothes lying on the ground and I could see blood on the telly. And there was the headboard or footboard of a bed there too – also with blood on it.”

Officers investigating the incident say they are not looking for anyone else but are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman: “At 1.40 am police were called to an ongoing disturbance within a property at Love Street, Paisley.

“On arrival police observed a large amount of damage within the property and on further investigation a 16 and 17-year-old were located within the rear garden, with injuries which required hospital treatment.

“Police remain at this location carrying out enquiries and there are no other persons being sought in relation to this incident.”

The Love Street flats run by Kibble help young adults transfer from care settings to independent living.

Dedicated support staff provide guidance to the young people at the facility.

No one was available for comment from Kibble.  a Johnstone man is facing trial accused of stealing alcohol twice in the one day from the same shop in the town.

raymond Docherty is said to have targeted the Premier off sales, in High street, twice on June 8.

Docherty, 24, faces two theft charges and the case against him called for the first time at Paisley sheriff Court this week.

Docherty, of MacDowall street, Johnstone, was not present when the case was called and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.

a trial has been set for January, with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for December.
