A cocaine abusing yob caught on camera carrying out a horror attack on his girlfriend, is facing jail.

Thug Jack Rossi, 22, battered his partner Zoe Reid to the ground in a vicious assault which was captured on public space CCTV.

Paisley Sheriff Court was shown footage of the incident which took place at around 1.50 am on June 17, at New Street in the town centre.

Bully Rossi was seen engaged in a heated argument with Ms Reid, when he exploded in violence.

He attempted to kick her on the body, seized hold of her and threw her to the ground when he grabbed hold of her handbag and hit her over the head with it.

The yob then strode away leaving her lying in the street, before he ran back towards her and began hounding her again.

Rossi then swaggered away again, still leaving her on the ground, before returning once more where he is seen leaning over the victim, who remained lying on the pavement in a distressed state.

The brute appeared in the dock where he admitted charges of assaulting his partner Ms Reid by attempting to kick her, pulling her to the ground and striking her on the head with the handbag.

The attack is treated as domestically aggravated as it involved the abuse of a partner or ex-partner.

Rossi of Huntly Terrace, in the town’s south end, also pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, a class-A substance, which was discovered by police following his arrest.

Defence agent Eamon McGeehan told the court: “He is pleading guilty to charge one under deletion of the word repeatedly.

“He will also confirm a plea of guilty to the second charge.”

Fiscal depute Hazel Emmerson confirmed that Rossi’s pleas were acceptable to the prosecution and she added that Rossi had one previous conviction.

The prosecutor also offered to read out a description of the events to the court, however, Sheriff James Spy had opted to watch the actual CCTV footage without hearing a narrative of the attack.

Sheriff Spy said: “Having seen what you did to the young lady in question I am going to require to get reports and I will continue matters for the preparation for a Criminal Justice Social Work Report.

“The case will be continued for four weeks for that purpose and clearly you will come to court on that date.”

Rossi, who was freed on bail, will discover his fate when he returns to court on October 16.
