Tom and Marion celebrate 70 years together
It’s not often you hear about a couple who have been happily married for a full seven decades.
But this exact marriage milestone has been reached by lovely Paisley greatgrandparents Tom and Marion Corrigan.
The devoted platinum pair met at “the dancing” and have raised eight children together throughout their happy union.
Daughter Jane said: “They are very family-orientated.
“I feel really privileged because my parents are celebrating their 70 years.
“My brother is 68 and both my parents are still alive.”

A hotel and hundreds of family homes could be built in Ferguslie Park as part of ambitious new plans to transform the area.
Developers have revealed exciting proposals for the sprawling site close to the St James’ Interchange, which could also include a restaurant and industrial units.
Under the multimillion pound plan, which was lodged with
Renfrewshire Council this week, nearly 300 homes would be built alongside a a hotel and giant long stay car park facilities.
The application, which comes from design firm Keppie, has been welcomed by local groups who say it could drive jobs into the area.
The J29 development, as it has been dubbed by developers due to its proximity to junction 29 of the M8, will go before councillors later this year.
It will also include industrail and storage units to the north of the site, and a massive long stay car park, ideal for people jetting out of Gasgow Airport.
According to documents f rom developers, the residential section of the build would “place an emphasis on the ease of pedestrian movement” in line with Scottish Government guidelines.
If the plans are given the green light, two, three and four bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached houses could be built as part of the development.
At this stage the application for the giant 27 hectare site, close to St Mirren’s ground, is has been lodged in principal, with a detailed application to follow, if approved.
A pubic engagement meeting was held ta the Tannahill Centre in July to gather the views, which, according to the team behind the plans, were mostly positive, with some fears raised about school capacity.
Chairman of Ferguslie Community Council, John McIntyre, has welcomed the news insisting it will boost jobs in the area and compliment existing regeneration plans for the area.
He told the Paisley Daily Express: “It’s an absolute blinder.
“We totally welcome the concept.
“It will compliment the council’s Tannahill Regeneration and complete the physical regeneration of Ferguslie Park.
There wi l l b e job opportunities in both the construction phase and afterwards.
“We look forward to having discussions with the parties involved on how Ferguslie Park can maximise any benefit from this proposal.
“I have re quested councillor for the ward Johns McIntyre gather information on the proposals to allow the Community Council to discuss it in more detail.”
Renfrewshire Council are set to build 100 homes in the Tannahill area, with construction work set start in 2020, taking around 18 months to complete.
