Let’s end the eyesores

-

A blight on our local community – that’s the regular reports we and the council receive regarding fly -tipping of domestic and trade waste.

There are a number of local streets where a variety of items have been dumped including fridge freezers, mattresses, and couches to name just a few.

This activity causes two main issues – one of which is public inconvenience at seeing a local area strewn with refuse.

However, it often also presents a health hazard from potential fire risks through to the dumping of toxic materials.

Readers should be aware that most of this material is dumped by ‘trades people’avoiding costs associated with proper disposal of industrial waste.

Are you employing people to carry out work on your behalf who may be avoiding waste charges? If so, please think about the impact of your actions on others.

Community Policing Teams along with council wardens are continuing patrols of known sites, and items recovered are examined for identifying information with persons responsible subject to significant fines for disposing of their rubbish on the side of the road.

We rely on good quality information and intelligence, so please contact Police Scotland or Crimestoppers if you have anything to assist our investigations.
