An out- of- control yob who brawled with police officers called out to a disturbance in Paisley will have to wait until next month to learn of his fate.

Alexander Carroll, 38, sparked mayhem in broad daylight after he was thrown out of a bookies in the town centre.

The lout kicked off at Paddy Power in Gilmour Street, where he shouted, swore and made threats of violence against staff after he was asked to leave.

Carroll continued his ranting and shouting outside in the street on April 7, when police were summoned to the disturbance.

He then turned on officers who attempted to detain him in front of members of the public.

The accused appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court for sentencing after admitting charges of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause fear and alarm and that he shouted, swore, and utter threats of violence at Paddy Power and in Gilmour Street.

He also admitted obstructing, hindering, and resisting arrest involving police officers in the execution of their duty, attempting to bite one officer, and assaulting another officer by seizing clothing causing it to tear.

When he appeared in the dock, Carroll also admitted assaulting another officer by kicking him on the head and body, as well breaches of bail.

Defence agent Rhona Lynch said Carroll had been due to appear for sentencing on September 20 but wasn’t present at court after a mix up involving the date.

She added the defence had requested a medical report explaining the accused’s behaviour, which hadn’t been completed, and asked that matters be continued.

Sheriff Frances McCartney said the court was renewing its request for a psychiatric report to be available in preparation for sentencing Carroll, of Wyndford Road, Glasgow.

She told the accused: “Make sure you are available for appointments and make sure you attend them.”

Carrol, who was released on bail, will discover his punishment when he returns to court on October 15.
