HAIR WE GO...
Pals brave the shave for charity
Workmates Eric Gilday and Danny Rossiter have been waxing lyrical about doing their bit for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The pair, who work for Renfrewshire Council, decided to Brave the Shave to back colleagues Jeanette Love and Sharon Waterson – who had their hair chopped off last week for the cancer charity.
Danny boldly parted with his moustache after 30 years, while Eric had his legs waxed – with a look of excruciation etched on his face.
Eric, whose face was a picture of pain when Kirsty Scoular took a wax strip to his pins, told the Express: “When I found out that my colleagues Jeanette and Sharon were bravely supporting Macmillan by getting their heads shaved, I wanted to help.
“Very few people get through this life without having a family member, friend or work colleague affected by cancer.
“The dedication and work done by Macmillan nurses is invaluable and it was an absolute honour to get involved and help raise funds for such a worthy cause.”
As reported in Friday’s Express, youth officers Jeanette, who lost her sister Liz to cancer, and Sharon waved goodbye to their barnets at the atrium inside Renfrewshire Council’s Paisley headquarters.
Clean-shaven Danny said: “We have had friends and work colleagues who have been affected by cancer.
“The dedicated work done by the nurses and staff at McMillans is invaluable, so I wanted to do my bit and help to raise as much funds as possible for this worthy cause.”
So far, the council team have raised around £1300 for Macmillan.
