DJ George brings a few smiles

-

Care home residents enjoyed their very own George Bowie experience after the DJ popped in for a visit.

The Clyde 1 favourite brought a bag of goodies along to the young physically disabled unit of Craigielea Care Home , in Renfrew, after hearing he had some fans there.

Jenni Mack, activity coordinator for the home, says the idea to invite George came about because some of the young people are big fans of dance music.

She said:“We thought it would be a good idea to get George Bowie down because some of the young people love to listen to his GBX show, with the dance music.

“They are based in a care home setting and although they have their own unit, it is predominately older people we look after.

“So, it is important to keep the young people connected with things they are interested in. We were delighted when George said he would come down and he brought along some Clyde 1 and GBX goodies and had a good chat with everyone.”

As part of staff efforts to keep residents connected with the things they previously enjoyed, two residents, James Davidson and John Milligan, recently visited the Porsche garage in Braehead.

Jenni added:“I just want to say a big thank you to all the staff who looked after us.”

Craigielea, which is part of the Holmes Care Group, specialises in caring for people with dementia or who have acquired brain injuries.
