Community council hears zero crime reported in Ralston area

-

An upmarket part of Paisley saw no crimes reported to the police in recent weeks.

According to the minutes of Ralston Community Council, police constable Laura Wyllie told the meeting there had been zero such reports since the organisation’s last meeting in September.

However, community council member Alison Scott asked about an alleged incident in Auchmannoch Avenue where a bogus caller had gained access to a resident’s home.

Constable Wyllie and her colleague Constable Bruce Heron told the meeting they were not aware of the incident but would investigate.

Community council member Hugh Sherry said he had recently been a victim of a telephone scam. He reported this to the police fraud team, the meeting heard. Constable Heron said this is known to be a huge problem and everyone should be extremely cautious when receiving such calls and spread this advice around.

Ian Rae raised the issue of speeding vehicles in Newtyle Road.

He told the meeting he has received an e-mail from Mark Higginbottom of Renfrewshire Council, saying he would pass Mr Rae’s request for more speed bumps to the police.

Constable Wyllie added that she would pass the issue of speeding vehicles on to other local officers for checks to be done at the morning and evening rush hours.

Community council member Simon Hall said he was at the Clean-Up event on September 29. He told the meeting that it was quiet in terms of numbers present and reminded everyone that this event takes place on last Saturday of each month, starting at 10am at Barshaw Park car park.

Alison Scott told the meeting that the community council has a current bank balance of £2145.47.

There had been no change from last month’s figure as, due to implementation of the Renfrewshire Council’s new process, the invoice for last month’s hall hire had been delayed but will be processed as soon as possible.

The date of the next meeting of Ralston Community Council is Thursday, November 8, at 7.30pm in Ralston Community Centre, Allanton Avenue.

All are welcome to attend.
