Brooke’s lost locks will be charity’s gain
Glenburn girl Brooke Wilson has proved she is a cut above by promising to donate 10 inches of her long locks to charity.
Seven-year-old Brooke is looking forward to sporting a new look in time for her birthday – but thinks that being able to give away her hair will be the best present of all.
The kind-hearted youngster turns eight on November 12 and to mark the occasion Brooke is gearing up to make a big change and go for the chop for charity.
She wants to donate the locks to The Little Princess Trust, an organisation that makes wigs for sick children who have lost their hair as a result of illness or cancer treatment.
It will be the first time the Langcraigs pupil has had more than a trim at the hairdressers, but mum Danielle admitted Brooke is delighted she will no longer have to spend hours trying to tame her thick mane.
Danielle said:“It can get quite tuggy so I think Brooke is actually excited to get it cut.
“At the moment it is down to her waist but she wants to cut it to shoulder length. We are all very proud of her.”
On her decision to take the cut, Danielle said it was important to Brooke that she could help other little boys and girls. Danielle said:“There are a lot of people in our family who have had cancer and sadly died.
“I spoke to Brooke about it and explained that there are kids out there that are sick and don’t have hair.
“I wasn’t surprised when she said she wanted to help them – she is a very thoughtful girl.
“She is very proud of her hair but she knows how important it is to help others”
Brooke is hoping to have her haircut in time for her eighth birthday and is looking forward to rocking the new shoulder length style in time for all the Christmas parties.
Danielle said:“She is determined to have it done before Christmas because she wants someone to receive her hair as their Christmas gift.”
