Emma’s in the frame for success Photography competition winner
One talented Buddie is snap happy after coming out on top in a photography contest.
Emma Kennedy’s photograph of Paisley’s Anchor Mill was awarded first place in the Raymond Robertson Photography Competition after receiving the most likes on Facebook for her stunning snap.
The 31- year- old nurse, from Elderslie, says she was shocked to scoop the big prize after only taking up photography as a hobby this year.
She told the Express: “I am kind of in shock, but very happy.
“I haven’t been into photography long, about a year, and only seriously into it for the last five months or so, so to have won this means a lot to me.”
The budding photographer will be presented with a framed print of her winning photograph at an award ceremony in Paisley Abbey next month.
Gavin Divers, who launched the competition, said that while he was delighted with the high quality of images that were entered, Emma’s photo was the clear winner.
“Emma’s photograph of the mill had the sun hitting the water in such a lovely way.” he said.
“She was easily the winner and I am delighted that an amateur got to win. “It’s phenomenal.” Gavin, who runs the a local history project called Paisley Her i t a g e, launched the competition in memory of his late friend and photographer Raymond.
He explained: “Raymond and I worked together for six years creating images that showed how beautiful Paisley is.
“When he died suddenly of lung cancer it really shook me but his photography had touched so many people around the world, so I thought a photography competition would be a fitting tribute.”
Gavin says he has been overwhelmed by the high number of entries and was thrilled to see such a high level of talent in every photograph.
“I was over the moon,” he admitted.
“It was fantastic to see all the photographs of Paisley in such a beautiful light.”
