A bully with 51 convictions faces jail for hurling abuse at his girlfriend as she mourned her stillborn child.

Sean Connell, 30, hurled abuse at his partner and kicked out at police when she called for help.

He turned on her just weeks after she lost her baby and fumed: “This is your fault, you f*****g wee boot.”

During a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, the brute admitted terrorising the woman and he also admitted police assault .

Prosecutor Frankie Morgan told how the pair had decided to have a quiet night in. He said: “About 9pm, an argument broke out between parties.

“The accused believed the complainer was winding him up.

“The argument continued and she asked the accused to leave.

“The accused refused and the complainer contacted the police requesting assistance.

“Police arrived and observed her to be upset.

“The accused became aggressive and stated ‘ I’ve done many a weekender and I’ll do another one – I don’t give a f**k’.

“Police tried to calm the accused and he shouted to the complainer ‘This is your fault, you f*****g wee boot’.” Connell turned nasty after a drunken argument in a property in Glen Street.

He called his partner a “skanky midden” and told her he would get his family on to her during the row on Saturday. The thug kicked a cop on the body as he tried to intervene.

He was finally cuffed and held in a cell overnight.

Defence lawyer Terry Gallanagh insisted his client’s behaviour was as a result of alcohol and high emotions.

He said: “His partner recently gave birth to a stillborn child and Mr Connell’s father passed away a couple of months ago.

“Given the tragedies, which have effected his life over such a short period of time, in her words, she ‘knew this was coming’.

“There was great stress within the family dynamic.

“He had not abused alcohol for a period of 12 months and abstained until that night.

“They have supported each other through an extremely difficult time.”

Sheriff Lindsey Kooner banned Connell from contacting the woman and called for background reports.

Connell, of McLean Place, Paisley, could be caged for up to 12 months for the offence when he returns to the dock.
