Rising star Justyna honoured at awards

-

Paisley woman Justyna Dabrowska has lifted a top prize.

The 29-year-old engineer at Inchinnan’s Peak Scientific Instruments was crowned Graduate Apprentice Rising Star at The Scottish Apprenticeship Awards.

As revealed in the Paisley Daily Express, Justyna is combining her job with a degree at the University of Strathclyde – all while supporting a young family.

Justyna, who lives in Paisley and is originally from Poland, said:“It’s so exciting to have won and I’m so happy.

“I would say to others to go for an apprenticeship. It’s been hard work but worth it.

“Winning this award has definitely been the highlight of my apprenticeship so far.”

The Scottish Apprenticeship Awards are organised by Skills Development Scotland as a celebration of the best apprentices and apprentice employers in the country.

Graduate Apprenticeships enable employees to study up to Master’s degree level with a learning provider and remain in their job, which enables employers to upskill and develop their workforce.

Justyna is relatively new to Peak, having started last year and is now combining work with her second year of studies at university.

In her time at Peak, Justyna has been involved in a large number of areas of manufacturing engineering.

Justyna said:“I’m really enjoying this apprenticeship.

“I have met great people at university and I’ve also become a part of the‘Peak family’, as we call ourselves. It’s a fantastic experience. The best thing is to get the work experience and academic qualifications together.

“I’ve enjoyed applying the theory I’m learning to real life situations.”

She added:“For a long time engineering has been a pursuit I have followed in my free time and now I can accomplish practical tasks and learn more of the things I’m interested in, and get paid for it.

“I don’t see my job as only a duty, it gives me genuine enjoyment.”

Inchinnan-based Peak Scientific Instruments is an innovator in the design, manufacture and on-going support of high-performance, onsite gas generators for analytical laboratories.

Russell Gillespie, Peak’s manufacturing engineering manager, said:“Justyna has exceeded expectations, not only in the quality of her academic work, but also in the way she has adapted to the fresh working environment that comes with a new job.”
