Sing your heart out for a good cause

-

St Vincent’s Hospice, in Howwood, is inviting Buddies to its Carolling at Christmas event.

The hospice is getting ready for this year’s festive celebration, which takes place on Tuesday, December 18, at 6pm.

This is your chance to join the choir, spread some holiday cheer and see the positive difference music can make to the lives of patients, family, staff, volunteers and service users.

Rehearsals for the big night will take place on Tuesdays, December 4 and 11, from 6pm to 7pm, with no previous singing experience required.

Laura Burns, music therapist from Nordoff Robbins, said: “Carolling at Christmas is part of a music therapy project funded by The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, and I have been working with the patients, loved ones and the staff of St. Vincent’s Hospice for three months now.

“I am really excited to invite everyone in the community to get involved this Christmas.

“Music has a universal power to reach us all, and our therapy uses elements of music to break down barriers of illness, or disability, and builds bridges to help with self- expression and social contact.

“Everyone is invited to join our choir, spread some festive spirit and see the benefit this has had to the patients of St Vincent’s Hospice.

“And if singing isn’t your thing, please come along and show your support on Tuesday, December 18.”

St Vincent’s Hospice is a specialist provider of palliative and hospice care for individuals and families affected by life- limiting conditions from across Renfrewshire.
