Music extravagan­za is ready, steady and go this weekend

Paisley Museum, Paisley Central Library and Coats Observator­y are now closed – for major redevelopm­ent but the good news is that the iconic spaces are getting a special send-off tonight and tomorrow.

First up, Renfrewshi­re Leisure is giving young bands a unique opportunit­y to perform in this historical building while it is empty.

The sold-out gigs, organised by Loud n Proud and Bricklane, will see Uncut, Vera, The Spyres, Ghostbaby and Dogtooth take to the stage tonight before The Vegan Leather perform tomorrow.

There are a whole range of activities and events to suit everyone such as a roller disco, an indoor beach and a family ceilidh.

The Cave have a fantastic weekend of music lined up and it starts tonight at 9pm with Ikon.

Mojo Filter will perform tomorrow at 6pm followed by Status Two at 9pm.

Then on Sunday, The Cave will be hosting the Bands for Malawi festival with no less than 10 acts all playing to make money for Classrooms for Malawi.

It will be a fantastic day of live music to raise funds for this worthy cause.

There will be raffles and an auction with great prizes.

The lineup is Trunk Monkey, Sad Ida, Cherry Red, 53, Crawford Carlyle, John Condron, The Sectorsm, Dunky Hunter Hard Lines and Fifth Element with Wreckless hosting. It all kicks off at 12.30pm. All this for just £3 donation on entry.

On Thursday from 8pm Other Humans and special guests will be the lineup for the regular Thursday introducin­g nights. It’s free entry.

The Old Swan tonight features Heavy Load at 8pm then tomorrow The Dangerous Brothers will be rocking out at 4pm.

The Casual Swans are back at 3pm on Monday then the Pre Fab Four play on Wednesday at 6pm.

Zambretto have local singersong­writer Alan McKim on at 8.30pm tomorrow.

Open Mic nights kick off tonight with Stevie Johnstone at Hamishes’ Hoose from 8pm, and Sunday at The Bungalow with Cat Caldwell from 8pm. On Monday 8pm at the Abbey Bar session is hosted by Dunky Hunter, and Andy Lindsey is at The Anchor on Tuesday from 8pm. Also on Tuesday there is a new open mic session starting at The Gantry with the talented Cat Caldwell as your host. On Wednesday, Johnny Barr is the host for Burger and Keg at 8pm.

Also on Wednesday, Andy Lindsay is at The Patter Bar from 8p, and on Thursday head to Manhattan’s at 8pm. Support your local venues and keep music live.
