He followed ex and partner to hospice

- Express Reporter

A jilted hubby hounded his estranged wife as she drove her new lover to grief counselling at Paisley’s Accord Hospice.

Murray Walker, 38, staked out his rival’s home and followed the couple as they left to support his dying mum.

He waited at the roadside before calling her and hissing: “I know where you are.”

The bully was convicted of stalking after a trial at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Walker claimed he followed expartner Iona and David Murray because he wanted back a leased car in his name being driven by his wife.

He said: “I wanted to get closure that my marriage was over.

“That was the first time I knew she’d been having an affair.

“I followed her to get my car back and to make sure she was going to be okay.

“I couldn’t believe my marriage was completely over.

“I was upset over the situation I was finding myself in.

“I didn’t think my marriage would end in a place like this.”

Walker had tracked the pair down to Mr Murray’s home in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire.

He had parked up nearby and waited for the pair to leave.

He followed the couple for 30 minutes as they headed to the care centre, in Paisley’s Morton Avenue.

The stalker pulled alongside them in Lonend.

He shouted through an open window before trailing them again.

The pair called police and were told to drive straight to Mill Street police office during the July ordeal.

Sheriff Craig Harris found him guilty of stalking and called for background reports.

He said: “I don’t accept at all that his reason for following Mrs Walker was, in some way, born out of some concern for her.

“His reason for attending was to ascertain whether she was cheating on him

“If he was there to recover the car, there is no explanation for why the recovery of this car on that day, at that point in time, was necessary.

“He has decided to punish her in some way and trying to retrieve the car from them is a direct response to her cheating on him.

“I believe the reason for him following her was to intimidate her.

“He chose to follow her for a good 25 to 30 minutes.

“All of this is abuse as it was intended to be abusive.

“It was intended to be controlling and was intended to be intimidating.”

Walker, of Kilmarnock, has been ordered to return for sentencing next month.
