Frost hopes enforced break doesn’t catch Paisley cold

- Rugby

Paisley Rugby Club skipper Ben Frost has called on his side to blow away the cobwebs following a month out of action.

The Buddies return to the field following four weeks off due to the autumn internationals as both the club’s first and second strings hit the road to South Lanarkshire to take on Strathaven and East Kilbride Rugby Clubs.

The first XV, having beaten a stuffy Loch Lomond side last time out, will be looking to reap the rewards of coach Gordon Powrie’s training plan when they take on a Strathaven side that beat them at The Anchor in their last meeting.

Meanwhile, the second XV could reach the summit of West Reserve League Division Three with a bonus point win against East Kilbride.

East Kilbride sit one place below Paisley and are tied on points with The Anchor men, so it could prove to be a tight fixture.

Frost said: “It’s great to put two teams out on a Saturday consistently and it shows the commitment of the people behind the scenes to make this happen.

“After four weeks off, the boys can’t wait to get out on the pitch and put all the effort they put in at training into action.

“Powrie has worked us really hard and hopefully we can build on the win against Loch Lomond last time out.

“We are looking to put the first half of the season behind us and turn a corner from now on.”
