A stalker who terrorised his ex when he was dumped and threatened to knife her stepdad has been ordered to stay away from the family.

Creepy James Mackay, 30, bombarded Olivia Costa with desperate emails after she ended their four-year relationship.

He turned up outside her parents’ home and hissed: “You’re frightened of me – I’m winning.”

Mackay has been banned from contacting the family after he admitted mounting the three-month hate campaign.

At Paisley Sheriff Court , Prosecutor Frankie Morgan told how the weirdo turned nasty after attempts to win the woman back failed.

He said: “Scott Davidson is the

stepdad of Olivia Costa.

“He was at home with his wife Debbie. She was outside on her balcony when she noticed a white van with an Enterprise logo at the end fo the street. It stopped outside.

“She noticed the accused exit the vehicle. Debbie Davidson dialled 999 and told the accused he better leave.

“Scott came out to the balcony. Both noticed the accused pick up a handful of stones and begin to walk towards them.

“He appeared to be intoxicated. The accused started shouting and arguing with Scott. “His speech was slurred. “He shouted: ‘ Come downstairs and we’ll see who’s the coward.’

“The accused left, but shortly afterwards he contacted Scott from an unknown number.

“He stated: ‘Soon you will open your door and I will be standing there. Who knows if I will be with a knife or something else. I’ll be seeing you on Tuesday – that’s if you make it to Tuesday. Olivia is frightened of me. You’re frightened of me. I’m winning.’”

Mackay drove to the couple’s Erskine home on October 10.

Police tracked him down the next day.

He was brought in to be quizzed but gave a “no comment” interview.

The court heard Mackay had sent dozens of emails to Olivia in the run-up to the ordeal.

He had sent the messages across a month – despite being told to leave her alone.

Ma c k ay ha s since been slapped with a court order forbidding him from contacting Olivia or her parents. He has also been banned from entering her building and their street.

Defence lawyer Paul McCue admitted his client knew he should not have approached the woman.

He said: “It seems he lost all perspective upon the end of the relationship.

“He accepts he acted in the manner he did. It’s a matter of regret for him. This was somebody he loved.

“He absolutely recognises that the relationship is at an end.”

Mackay was ordered to complete community service for sending the emails.

He was been placed under supervision and told to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in six months.

Sheriff Lindsay Kooner warned he could still be jailed for threatening Mr Davidson. She said: “I am just persuaded that I can impose a disposal which will allow you to remain in the community.

“You have caused difficulties for Ms Costa, her family and your own. These disposals are direct alternatives to custody.

“If you breach any of them you will brought back to court and will likely go to prison.”

Mackay, of Glasgow, has been ordered to return to the dock next year.
