Second payback order for accused

- Chris Taylor

A drunken yob tried to dodge justice after ditching community service for sparking a row.

Alexander Kazanski, 25, brandished a broken bottle at players outside a snooker hall.

He was ordered to carry out unpaid work – but avoided doing it for four years. The bully was finally brought to justice after cops caught up with him and he was summoned to Paisley Sheriff Court.

Prosecutor Frankie Morgan told how he waved the weapon and shouted at people in the street.

He said: “A CCTV operator observed the accused appearing intoxicated and staggering around.

“It appeared he was gesticulating in a manner consistent with shouting at passersby. He knocked over a bin and picked out a broken bottle before brandishing it in the direction of witnesses. “They were at the front door of a snooker hall.”

Kazanski was nabbed after he kicked off in Hope Street, Glasgow.

Police were called after he was captured lashing out on camera.

He was placed on a Community Payback Order for the rammy around 12.35am on October 24, 2010. But he refused to comply. He managed to avoid police for four years in a bid to beat punishment.

Kazanski was ordered into the dock after the law caught up with him.

Defence l awyer Dav i d Nicholson insisted his client ha d learned his lesson. He said: “He was a much younger man. “He’s matured. “He’s in a stable relationship and has a child.

“He was hoping this would just go away.

“He now recognises this is not going to happen.”

Sheriff Seith Ireland put the thug on a fresh Community Payback Order. He said: “This was an order made with a view taken your conduct then warranted consideration of a custodial sentence.

“The court took the view that it should be a direct alternative to imprisonment.

“You repaid that by completely ignoring the order.

“I am just persuaded that immediate custody can be avoided.”

Kazanksi, of Gowanbank Gardens, Johnstone, was ordered to complete 185 hours of unpaid work in nine months.
