Power firm wins £60m contract

A Renfrew business has agreed a new long-term contract for the provision of maintenanc­e and outage services to the UK’s largest power station.

The four-year deal between global power giant Doosan Babcock, which has a manufactur­ing base in Renfrew, and Drax Power Limited is worth at least £60 million.

It aims to strengthen workforce collaborat­ion and improve efficienci­es in maintainin­g and extending the life of the power plant near Selby, Yorkshire, which was started 50 years ago. The plant is responsibl­e for providing seven per cent of the UK’s electricit­y.
