Cody Cooke came to Scotland chasing a dream.

But the 25- year- old St Mirren striker admits he has to quickly get his head down if it isn’t to descend into a nightmare.

Among a raft of signings from England made by former gaffer Alan Stubbs, the former Truro City man has found opportunities hard to come by since arriving in the summer.

A bit-part player at best, he has been forced to bide his time to be given the slightest opportunity.

“I have come from Cornwall, which is a good 12-hour drive.

“I just think, give me time, give me time to adjust and get some minutes on the pitch and I’ll show what I can do.

“It has been limited and frustrating but finally I think I am turning the manager’s head here now.

“I now feel like I could be involved, be a big part of the squad, and for me it is now about keeping my head down and keep grinding every day.

“With suspensions and injuries, hopefully I get more opportunities.”

Cooke could be an outside bet to start against Hibernian at Easter Road tomorrow night, with Simeon Jackson ruled out following his sending off against Accies at the weekend.

But the former school teacher insists he is just happy to even be involved after being banished to the
