Café plays Santa with free Christmas feast

-

A kind-hearted Paisley café boss is once again inviting those in need to enjoy a free festive feast on Christmas Day.

Jennifer McKay, who runs the Malatso Café in High Street, is expecting to feed more than 30 hungry people with a three-course Christmas dinner with all the trimmings this year.

Mal atso has previously thrown open its doors to those in need on December 25 as the businesswoman and her staff look to give back to the local community.

Jennifer said: “We’re very much a community café. We do a lot for the community.

“Four years ago, we just decided to do it. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do it last year because I wasn’t feeling very well.

“It’s really emotional, but it’s a great atmosphere on the day. You get so many different types of people just all being together.

“Everybody in Paisley is always so generous, so nice. Even when someone doesn’t have a lot, they’ll give you their last pound.

“That’s what I love about Paisley – the community. It’s about giving back to people.”

The café is inviting anyone, from any walk of life, to pop by for a big feed, while they’ll also get to take some goodies home with them as well.

Jennifer added: “Anyone can just drop in at any point, it’s really informal. People can come and go as they please.

“They’ll get a three-course dinner, plus all the treats, the mince pies and coffee.

“They’ll also get a food bag to take away and they’ll get stuff to open up on the day as well.”

The café will be welcoming in people from any time between noon and 5pm on Christmas Day from their spot in town at 80 High Street.

Announcing on Facebook they will be open this Christmas, the Malatso Café commented: “If you know anyone that may want to come down, please let them know the door will be open to all, even if you just want to pop in for a coffee and a chat, please do so, it’s a day for sharing joy to all.”
