Heroin seized as cops blitz five drug dens

on drugs warrants following tip-offs from the community.

Dressed in protective helmets and stab- proof vests, officers from Police Scotland’s violence reduction unit screamed “Police, police, police” as they rammed in the doors before searching the properties.

It’s understood more than 5,000 tablets, a quantity of heroin, cannabis and a m p h e t a m i n e w e re recovered along with a fourfigure sum of cash from the Paisley busts.

Officers recovered a significan­t quantity of drugs and cash from a flat in Inchinnan and a smaller amount of suspected drugs from a Renfrew property during the day of action.

Chief Inspector Simon Wright, area commander for Paisley, says he is “determined” to smash drug networks across Paisley and beyond.

He told the Paisley Daily Express: “As part of our ongoing action against the misuse of drugs, officers targeted addresses in the west end, Ferguslie Park, Shortroods areas of Paisley and a addressed in Renfrew and Inchinnan.

“This action came as a direct result of informatio­n gleaned from the public as part of the Your Home, Your Street, Our Community initiative, a community partnershi­p between Police Scotland, Renfrewshi­re Council and other partners.

“As local area commander for Paisley, I’m determined to tackle drug dealing in our communitie­s wherever it occurs.

“I would urge anyone who has concerns about drug dealing in their area to contact police so we can act to shut it down.”

Three men, aged 18, 35 and 22, along with a 43-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences following the raids.
