Coming together for Christmas

Erskine Care Home residents surprise Linwood youngsters

together.

She told the Express: “Every year we ask the parents and children to donate to a special hamper, which we give to a worthy cause.

“This year we chose Erskine, which is a fantastic charity. When we got in contact with them they said they would be delighted to come down to the centre to accept the hamper.

“Four residents and four members of staff came and they had a great day with the children.

“The residents really lit up talking with the children.

“They were asking them all what they were getting for Christmas and the children were really chatty, telling them all about their lists to Santa.”

The talented youngsters from the nursery also treated the residents to a festive concert of all the songs they have been learning.

Julie added: “We had scones and jam, biscuits and cups of tea and the children also sang some Christmas songs for them.

“The children loved singing for them and to see the residents enjoying themselves was great.

“They were so bright and on the ball.

“They spoke to the children about when they were young.

“All in all, I think it was a big success.

“We are planning to get the residents back in the new year. They are going to bring in pictures of themselves from their younger days.”
