Glenvale AFC 2002s have been handed an away clash as they strive to rekindle their romance with the Scottish Cup.
The holders face a tricky tie at East Kilbride Blue in the quarter finals as they aim to reach the final for the third year running.
The draw, made at Hampden Park by inspiresport’s Jed McCabe, was eagerly anticipated across a range of age groups as Renfrewshire sides reach the latter stages of the cup.
McCabe, who works closely with St Mirren in his role with inspiresport, will be the one to hand over the trophies and coveted silverware to the winning sides when the finals take place in May.
Vale brought the Scottish Cup back to town earlier this year following a stunning run to glory.
Victories over St Mirren Athletic, PFD United, West Dyke Community Club, Charlie Miller Soccer Academy, Jerviston FC, Tynescastle FC and Hillwood BC had seen the side battle tooth and nail to just reach the final.
In Spartans, Glenvale faced the side who had defeated them on penalties in last year’s final .
But the memories of that day would be banished over the course of 90 minutes as they finally got to grips with the coveted silverware following years of trying to get their name on the cup.
The Paisley side also have representation in the 2004s age group, as Glenvale take on Tynecastle at home in their own quarter finals.
There is also a keen local interest in the 2003s age group as Barrhead’s youngsters look to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors by getting their hands on the trophy just three years after the club last won a Scottish Cup.
And Johnstone Burgh 2003s will be striving to do the same as they hope to continue their run in the competition when they face Giffnock away from home.
