Jealous teen lashed out at boyfriend’s mum after row over his ex
A jealous yob clawed her boyfriend’s mum in the face and then kicked and spat on police called out to the disturbance.
Troubled Shanice South, 19, flipped out when she heard her partner Willie Tarbert had been speaking to an old flame.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard South burst into a house in Dalskeith Crescent, Paisley, and scratched the face of her boyfriend’s mother Carol.
Out- of- control South then repeatedly booted a police officer and then spat in the face of another constable during the rammy which happened on the evening of November 23.
Fiscal depute Claire Rowan said: “The accused was within Dalskeith Crescent and had been consuming alcohol with other people.
“The accused had recently began a relationship with William Tarbert.
“There had been some discussion that evening where Mr Tarbert had been in contact with an ex partner.
“He was not present when his conversation took place.”
The prosecutor added South went to the property at Dalskeith Crescent where an argument between her, her boyfriend and his mum ensued.
Ms Rowan said: “The accused became involved in an argument with Carol and William Tarbert and was ushered out of the house.
“She returned and grabbed Carol Tarbert by her head and scratched her on the cheek.
“She was removed from the house again.
“Carol Tarbert contacted police who attended the scene of an ongoing disturbance.
“The accused was traced by police officers who attempted to place handcuffs on her.
“During this the accused repeatedly kicked a constable on the body.
“She then spat in the face of another constable with spittle landing in his left cheek.”
Yesterday, the college student appeared in the dock where she pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting Mrs Tarbert by seizing her by her head and scratching her in the face to her injury, assaulting PC Gary Bruce by repeatedly kicking the officer on the body, and to assaulting PC Nicolle Andrews by spitting in her face.
Defence agent Michael McKeown said: “She understands these are serious matters.
“She does have previous convictions but none of which have involved police.
“She was intoxicated at the time of the offence and became upset because her partner had been having discussions which included his ex partner.
“There was heightened emotions when she was under the influence of alcohol.
“She deeply regrets the matter and previously received a period of supervision.
“She has recently began attending college and I would urge the court to consider handing her a community disposal.”
Sheriff Lyndsey Kooner slated the accused for her behaviour but said it is “encouraging” she is now attending college.
She said: “Matters got out of control when you assaulted Mrs Tarbert then assaulted police officers.
“It was particularly distasteful for you to spit on in someone’s face.
“However it is encouraging that you are now attending college.”
She place South, of Springbank Road, Paisley, under supervision of the local authority for 12 months and handed her 150 hours of unpaid work to be completed within six months.
