Mercy for trucker after rammy

-

A trucker has been shown mercy by a sheriff after his money worries prompted a domestic disturbance.

Stuart Brodie, 43, lost the plot with his partner during an incident at the couple’s home in Bridge of Weir.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard Mr Brodie had pleaded guilty to the behaving in a threatening and abusive manner on November 8 last year, when he shouted and bawled at his girlfriend amid fears over the couple’s finances.

Defence agent Terry Gallanagh said: “He has accepted responsibility for this matter. It was a domestic situation.

“And parties are working towards getting back together. They are still not living together. Though they are 90 per cent there.

“The matter arose after significant debts were incurred and the complainer had issues surrounding spending.

“It does not excuse his behaviour and he regrets the matter.”

The court heard lorry driver Mr Brodie had been released on bail with special conditions not to approach his partner.

And since the incident, he had not come to the attention of the authorities, and had continued to support his partner and the family.

Sheriff Lyndsey Kooner said it would not be in the interests of justice to impose a fine on Mr Brodie, as that would only affect the family further.

She admonished him and dismissed the charges against him.
