Plea for Buddies to share their memories for Love Street musical

-

The voices of Paisley are to be captured in a new stage show.

Love Street – The Musical is a Paisley-based project for Outspoken Arts Scotland and the aim is to collect stories, personal experiences and memories of Paisley people who have lived or worked on or near Love Street, former home of St Mirren FC.

The company has appointed two artists – playwright, poet and performer Martin O’Connor and composer Nichola Strutton to bring the project together.

They are working closely with the community-based STAR Project and are looking to have conversations with the people of Paisley.

Martin O’Connor is interested in exploring the ideas of Scottish identity through theatre and poetry with a particular interest in Scots.

He is a former further education drama tutor and has led many education projects.

He has been the director of the Tron Theatre Young Company since 2012 and has been writer-inresidence with Firefly Youth Arts and the Children’s Hospice Association.

His work has been developed and supported by Playwright’s Studio Scotland, a National Theatre of Scotland Writer’s Attachment and the artist development programme Team Effort.

Scots-born Nichola Scrutton’s work spans a range of self-directed projects and collaborations. She was awarded a PhD from the University of Glasgow.

Watch out for full details on Love Street The Musical in the Paisley Daily Express in the coming days.
