Joy as supermarket donates £100,000 to Accord Hospice
A leading supermarket has donated £100,000 to a top Paisley charity.
The cash boost for Accord Hospice came from the Morrisons Foundation and it has been used to offset part of the £1 million cost of the refurbishment of the charity’s in-patient unit.
The donation supported a larger project to renovate the hospice, with improvements to heating and lighting, as well as care equipment such as state-of-the-art hoists and beds.
David McFadden, senior fundraiser of ACCORD Hospice, was delighted at the support provided by Morrisons Foundation.
He said: “The work we have undertaken to improve the facilities at the hospice has been a major investment in the future of our caring services.
“We are enormously grateful to the Morrisons Foundation and the people in our communities who have worked so hard and give so generously to supporting the Hospice each year.
“It has been a challenging project, but the outcome has been sensational from the en- suite bathrooms and space for families to stay overnight to be with their loved ones, to the patio doors that are now in rooms to provide access to a private patio area, it is like a home from home where we can provide specialist care 24-hours a day”
Community Champion Allan Keddie, from Morrisons in Paisley, presented the donation to the charity.
He said: “Seeing the difference the donation has made to patients at the hospice is a joy, the new facilities are genuinely remarkable.
“We’re proud to be able to support such a great local charity.”
The Morrisons Foundation was set up in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives.
Since launching over £24 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
