More than 3,000 sign petition for murdered Craig

-

A petition supporting the family of murdered Paisley dad Craig McClelland has passed 3,000 signatures.

His grief stricken family are calling for a full public inquiry into his death after he was stabbed to death by James Wright.

Blade thug Wright had been on the run for five months after removing his electronic tag when he killed the innocent father-of- three in July 2017.

His partner Stacey, along with his family, are calling for a full investigation into his case and a change in the law making a pubic inquiry mandatory when a tagged offender goes on to kill.

In less than a week, more than 3,000 have joined their call.

The Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf rejected pleas for a public inquiry forcing the family to write to the Lord Advocate James Wolffe QC asking for a Fatal Accident Inquiry.

Stacey urged Buddies to sign the petition to help protect the community.

She said:“MSPs should make it mandatory to have an independent inquiry whenever a prisoner on a Home Detention Curfew kills a law-abiding member of the public.

“Tell the Justice Secretary, tell the Lord Advocate and tell MSPs that you are with us by signing this petition.

“Please support our call for an inquiry into the circumstances that led to Craig’s death and changes in the law.”
