Twisted poison pen son tells cops he was set up

- RON MOORE

A poison pen menace has written to police bosses amid claims he was fitted up.

Joseph Carson, 60, jailed twice over a poison pen scandal, is attempting to enlist senior cops to help him despite already being prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned over the matter.

The twisted son was caged for eight months at Paisley Sheriff Court in September 2017 for conducting a hate campaign involving his own mother Janet, 82 and her former boyfriend Mr Ronald Moreland, 79.

He had bombarded them with hateful accusations in an attempt to split them up.

Carson, of Machrihanish, Argyll, had also fired out missives to police officers, a church minister and social workers with horrific claims about Mr Moreland abusing his frail and elderly mother.

He referred to him as “Mr Sleaze”, “a control freak” and a “worthless piece of dog poo,” over fears his inheritance was being put at risk after his mother started dating Mr Moreland.

In August last year he was jailed for six months at Paisley Sheriff Court after he continued to write letters to his mother and Mr Moreland, despite being banned from contacting them.

In new emails forwarded to the Express, desperate Carson claims: “The vast concerns for my mother and my family what the - NHS - Police Scotland - Paisley Sheriff Court has inflicted upon the Carson family since July 2013.

“Allowing sick in the head distorted delusional Mr Ronald Moreland continue since July 2013 what he is doing and has continually done.

“You would not believe or fully understand as I had prior mentioned the immense horrendous damage unlimited damage duress caused by Mr Ronald Moreland to my mother and myself it is unending.”

He added in reference to Inspector Julie McLeish and Chief Inspector Iain Livingstone, “Since yourself and the new chief of Police Scotland Iain Livingstone taking over from the prior chiefs - Stephen House - Phillip Gormley, both chiefs did nothing but got out, things are slowly changing as it should be.

“As I mentioned I have had enough I cannot and will not sit back and allow immense damage duress being caused to my mother.”

After he was jailed, his mother Janet from Erskine, said: “He is very lucky to get away with what he got.

“Unfortunately the anger he feels is all in his mind. “Joseph needs help.

“But he just won’t accept it.” Mr Moreland of Clarkston, Glasgow, also voiced sympathy for Carson at being handed another stretch behind bars. He said: “It is a shame.

“I don’t want him to go to prison.

“But he just won’t accept anything. He is deluded.”

Reverend Jonathan Fleming, Church of Scotland minister at Erskine Parish Church, said the hate campaign launched by Carson devastated those involved.

He said: “I have dealt with tragedy during my ministry, but the effects of this on parishioners have been both dreadful and awful.”
