Road delays ahead
Renfrewshire motorists are braced for delays this weekend, with an extensive resurfacing programme taking place on the M8, near Glasgow Airport.
On the westbound section of the road, from Black Cart to Gryfe, contraflow traffic management will be in place from 8pm to 6am until Monday in order to resurface 800m of carriageway.
To n y Chambers, Scotland TranServ’s project design lead, said: “This is an extremely important programme of work that has required consultation with key local stakeholders, local authorities and emergency services to ensure that we reduce disruption as much as possible while these necessary resurfacing works are being carried out.
“The project has been programmed for this time in order to avoid where possible, key holiday and event periods in the local calendar.”
Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s principal roads design engineer added: “We would advise motorists that significant delays are being forecast by our specialist traffic modelling contractor.
“Drivers are asked to seek alternative travel arrangements at these times.
“Ev e r y e f f o r t ha s been taken to minimise disruption while this important resurfacing work is completed.”
