Hoax caller set to be assessed by psychiatrists
A yob is to be assessed by psychiatrists after he admitted making repeated prank phone calls to police.
Steven Cartwright, 33, bombarded the 999 service with nuisance reports.
He was lifted after cops traced him when he made violent threats.
Cartwright admitted the offence when the case called at Paisley Sheriff Court.
Defence lawyer Amy Spencer urged for experts to evaluate her client.
She said: “A psychiatric report had been called for.
“But despite his almost desperate persistence it’s not be done.
“My office has tried unsuccessfully to have a psychiatrist from Dykebar Hospital visit him.
“I think it would be extremely useful to have this man psychiatrically assessed.”
Cartwright phoned police repeatedly last November 26.
He tied-up the control room phone line and then turned nasty when officers arrived to arrest him.
The thug bawled threats at six different cops when he arrived at the police station.
He targeted an inspector and her team during the rammy. They insist he made offensive and menacing remarks.
He had been locked-up on remand while waiting to face justice.
The court previously heard Cartwright had struggled with alcohol.
He claims he lost control after he was made homeless when he was kicked out of his family home.
He insisted he was “ashamed” of his actions.
Cartwright was earlier placed on supervision for sparking the row.
Sheriff James Spy called for specialist reports.
He said: “I am going to continue for four weeks to get a fresh criminal justice social work report and a psychiatric report.
“You must cooperate with the preparation of the report.”
Cartwright, of Abercorn Street, will be monitored by social workers and must return to court.
He has been ordered to return to the dock for a progress review on March 14.
