HEROIN AND ECSTASY DEALER IS CAGED FOR THREE YEARS

Police nabbed stash worth £245,000 after tip-off

- RON MOORE

A new dad has been caged for three years after he was caught with a massive stash of ‘blue plague’ pills, heroin and ecstasy.

Shaun McLachlan, 30, was busted with almost £250,000 worth of drugs and a ‘tick book’ containing a list of names and cash amounts owed following a search of his house by cops.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard McLachlan

had been found semi-naked in the street in Foxbar after a rammy with his girlfriend Brooke Hunter and then his f a t h e r Johnston McLachlan.

Police who were tipped off by a witness, first found a box containing drugs which McLachlan had dumped in woods behind a house at Almond Crescent.

Cops then visited the accused’s address at nearby Helmsdale Drive where they uncovered 160,000 etizolam pills, 2kgs of MDMA and around 20 grams of heroin.

Yesterday McLachlan, who recently became a father following the birth of a baby daughter, appeared for sentencing after pleading guilty to charges of being involved in the possession and supply of Class- A, Class- B and Class- C substances on May 27, last year.

Defence agent David Nicholson told the court : “His position is he was a userdealer.

“A person in the grip of substance misuse who will routinely struggle to the meet the costs - and realise various methods to obtain money.

“The accused was part of a peer group and advises he developed the supply of substances to fund his own misuse of drugs.”

The lawyer added McLachlan “deeply regrets the effect this will have on his family,” and “realises he will be unable to play a part in the upbringing of his daughter.”

Sheriff Seith Ireland told McLachlan: “The total value of the drugs recovered comes to the value of £245,000 including possession of a substantial amount of etizolam tablets, a significant quantity of MDMA and a smaller quantity of heroin.

“A black diary containing entries described as a tick list, names and figures, was found in the bedroom of the house.”

He added these were “indicators” it was a “drug dealing enterprise,” being operated by McLachlan.

Sheriff Ireland jailed him for three years telling him: “No other disposal is appropriate given the gravity of the offence.”

McLachlan was handed another 10 months, which will run concurrently, after admitting assaulting his girlfriend Ms Hunter in a domestic disturbance which happened on the same day, as well admitting behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards his parents.
