Cash can help our shopfronts
A Paisley councillor is encouraging businesses to apply for a grant which can help improve their shopfronts.
The Retail Improvement Scheme 2019/20 supports owners and leaseholders of commercial premises in retail areas throughout Renfrewshire who are looking to improve the external fronts of their properties.
The grant can cover up to 70 per cent of eligible costs with a minimum grant of £1,000 and a maximum of £8,000.
Councillor Kenny MacLaren said:“The Retail Improvement Grant has helped many local businesses improve not only their shopfronts but also the appearance of our local retail areas.
“The Retail Improvement Scheme aims to encourage a high standard of physical improvements to the fronts of properties in retail areas in Renfrewshire.
“Grant funding is available to assist qualifying occupiers to carry out a range of improvements.
“Since it first launched in 2012, the scheme has helped about 150 businesses throughout Renfrewshire improve their properties and has assisted in returning approximately 40 vacant units to beneficial use.”
Two rounds of application deadlines exist – Friday, June 28, and Thursday, September 26.
Eligible applications will be considered in July and October and all approved projects must be completed before March 31 next year.
Potential applicants should contact Lynn Hollands, the regeneration officer coordinating the scheme, at 0141 618 7839 or lynn. hollands@renfrewshire. gov.uk
