Renfrewshi­re secondary school is top of the class

A Renfrewshi­re secondary school has been ranked as one of the best in Scotland.

Gryffe High School, in Houston, has come in at eighth place out of a total of 339 secondary schools in Scotland in measuring pupils’ academic performanc­e.

Attainment figures compiled by the Scottish Government show 70 per cent of students at Gryffe High achieved five or more awards at SCQF level six, equivalent to Highers.

Park Mains High, in Erskine, comes in as the next highest achieving secondary school in Renfrewshi­re where 41 per cent of students achieved five or more passes at level six .

The school is ranked at 95th out of 339 secondary schools in the country.

Paisley Grammar School is the third best performing school in the Renfrewshi­re Council area, where 39 per cent of pupils achieved five or more passes at SCQF level six.

The school has been ranked 114th in the country, only one place outside the top third ( 113) of performing schools in the country.

Gleniffer High School in the town is ranked as the fourth best performing school in the local authority area, according attainment data, where 36 per cent of pupils achieve five or more passes at SCQF level six.

The school ranks 142nd in the country.

While Trinity High School in Renfrew comes in fifth, just behind Gleniffer, where its 36 per cent of its pupils also achieve five or more passes at Higher equivalent level.

Trinity is ranked 143rd in the table of performanc­e.

Castlehead High School in Paisley and Johnstone High School are placed joint sixth in the local authority area, where 32 per cent of pupils achieve passes in five or more subjects at SCQF level six.

Renfrew High School is next and is placed at eighth in the council area, where 31 per cent of students are achieving passes at Higher level equivalent.

St Andrew’s Academy in Paisley comes in at ninth place among Renfrewshi­re schools, where 31 per cent of pupils are passing five or more subjects as SCQF level six.

While St Benedict’s High School in Linwood is ranked as tenth out of secondary schools in Renfrewshi­re, where 22 per cent of pupils achieve passes in five or more subjects at Higher equivalent level.

The school is placed at 291st out of 339 secondarie­s in the country.

Linwood High School comes in at eleventh place in Renfrewshi­re, where 17 per cent of pupils achieve passes in five or more subjects at SCQF level six.

It is placed at 319th out of 339 secondary schools in the country.

The best performing school in the country is Jordanhill School, in Glasgow, where 83 per cent of pupils are scoring passes in five or more subjects at SCQF level six, .

The worst performing school is Northfield Academy in Aberdeen, where only seven per cent of students are gaining passes in five or more at Higher equivalent exams.
