IT’S GIFTS GALORE FROM ST CHARLES’

A funeral director got a cracking response to its annual Easter Egg appeal as pupils from a Paisley primary school donated more than 300 chocolatey treats.

Steven Cameron Funeral Director’s drive - now in its third year - picked up a bumper haul of goodies from the children of St Charles’ Primary School.

All the Easter treats will be handed out to groups and charities across Renfrewshire over the next few weeks and organisers say the collection is on course to smash last year’s record.

Gordon Powrie, from Steven Cameron Funeral Director’s, was says the push this year has been an egg-cellent success.

He told the Paisley Daily Express: “The pupils from St Charles’ donated around 300 eggs which is just phenomenal.

“Overall, we collected between 1,800 and 2,000 last year. We are on course to beat that this year, so it’s been outstanding.

“All the eggs we collect will go to local groups, schools and charities. We have already been giving some out in the community.

“I want to say a big thank you to the children at St Charles ‘ Primary and everyone else who has donated.

Katie Leck, charity coordinator at the school, added: “For the past few years, we have helped Steven Cameron Funeral Directors with their Easter Egg appeal.

“It is fantastic to be able to help the local community with a small token this Easter, especially as a Catholic school we focus on giving during Lent.

“Our school community has been so generous and I’m overwhelmed at the amount of donations we have received.

“It is amazing how much joy something as small as an Easter egg can make to those in the community.”

 You can hand in Easter eggs at the offices of Steven Cameron Funeral Directors at 3 Caplethill Road, Paisley, PA2 7TE.
